Erin Gafill is a contemporary painter living and working in the place where she was born, Big Sur, CA.
Gafill has deep roots in the arts. The great grand daughter of artist Jane Gallatin Powers and lawyer and Bohemian Frank Hubbard Powers, co-founders of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, she grew up in a creative milieu surrounded by artist, writers, and bohemians. Her maternal grandparents opened the doors of Nepenthe Restaurant in 1949, a watering hole for creative types that continues to be family owned and family run to this day. Her specialties include: abstracted landscape painting, watercolor and mixed media collage, arts instruction for beginners and artists who are trying to break through creative blocks.
